General Immigration
If you would like to remain in the United States and don’t know about your legal options, or you want to talk to an immigration lawyer about your immigration possibilities, we can help. We can also help people who want to come to the United States for business, tourism or medical treatment or who want extensions or change of status.
US Green Cards
Goodin Law P.A. is a Las Vegas immigration law firm that can assist with your US green card needs whether by adjustment of status or through an immigrant visa at a US consulate (consular processing). A green card is the document carried by a lawful permanent resident as proof of authorization to live and work freely in the United States indefinitely. Green cards are available to many people with family ties to the United States, including:
- Parent, child (under 21) or spouse of a U.S. citizen
- Adult child, married or unmarried, of a U.S. citizen
- Spouse or unmarried child of a lawful permanent resident
- Brother or sister of a U.S. citizen
Getting a green card through a family visa has become increasingly more complex. We can help you prepare for green card interviews and will attend local interviews with you at no extra cost. We provide immigration legal help in areas such as conditional green card problems, a finding of immigration marriage fraud, green card divorces and marriage to green card holders.
If you are interested in acquiring a green card for yourself, a spouse or other family member, please contact our Las Vegas green card lawyer today to arrange a consultation.
Marriage Green Cards
Marriage to a United States citizen does not automatically entitle a foreign national to remain in the United States or to be issued an immigrant visa. Couples filing immigrant petitions based on marriage have the burden to prove that their marriage is in good faith and not for the purpose of getting immigration benefits. Additionally the complex must complete many forms properly and comply with many immigration laws and procedures.
Foreign nationals with marriages that are less than 2 years at the time they become permanent residents will be granted conditional permanent resident status. After two years, the couple must apply for the removal of the conditions to permanent residence (form I-751). At this time, the couple must once again present evidence of a good faith marriage.
The marriage immigration and interview process can be stressful and confusing. Please schedule a consultation with Las Vegas immigration lawyer Gary Goodin if you are interested in assistance with marriage immigration.
K 1 Visas
K 1 visas are designed to make it easier for the fiancé of a US citizen (and unmarried children of the fiancé) to immigrate to the United States. A person with a K 1 visa is admitted to the United States under the condition that she or he must marry the US citizen petitioner within 90 days of admission. After the marriage the K 1 fiancé may then apply for a US green card.
If you are interested in petitioning for a fiancé we can help. Please contact our Las Vegas k1 visa lawyer today for a free immigration consultation.
US Immigration Waiver
We represent persons who are unable to get a green card or visa because of criminal convictions, unlawful presence for more than 180 days, untrue statements made to get an immigration benefit, prior removal and other grounds of inadmissibility.
US Citizenship/Loss of Citizenship
We help persons become US citizens so that they can travel freely, sponsor family, vote and take an equal part in American life. Becoming a citizen also provides legal protection from deportation.
Lawful permanent residents (those with a green card) may be eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship by naturalization after at least five years (and in some cases after three years) of becoming a lawful permanent residence. However there are many legal and procedural steps that must be satisfied to get US citizenship. We also help with other US citizenship issues such as US citizenship for minors and loss/renunciation of US citizenship.
Las Vegas immigration lawyer Gary Goodin, a naturalized United States citizen is delighted to assist you through this exciting process. If you are interested in acquiring your U.S. citizenship, please contact us today to arrange an immigration lawyer consultation.
Deportation and Removal
Removal proceedings are immigration court hearings to decide whether a non-citizen will be removed from the United States. Any non-citizen including a permanent resident may be removed from the United States if he or she falls within one of the grounds of inadmissibility or deportability contained in the Immigration and Nationality Act. The process must however comply with the law and United States constitution. Further even if a non-citizen is removable there may be forms of relief available that may allow him or her to remain in the United States.
If you are interested in stopping your deportation from the United States, please contact Las Vegas immigration attorney Gary Goodin today to arrange a free consultation.
